Haqeer – Life of a transgender

Duration: 12:15    Category: Pakistan

Saima Rajpoot is a woman born in a male body. Having survived begging in the streets of Lahore, she succeeds in leading a fulfilled life, both in work and love. She fights for her trans community to be safe and respected by the rest of society. She seeks to change her sex on national ID as the first step towards seeking a life outside of Pakistan, free to be with her boyfriend. She is no longer an Haqeer, an unworthy.

This film was created as part of the Pakistan Stories programme, in partnership with Patakha Pictures and British Council.
